March 15, 2012 – at the Uptown Theatre in Grand Prairie – Texas Family Musicals will preivew their 2012 season with a fabulous evening of music. The evening will feature Texas Family Musicals stars: JUDY NORTON (the Waltons), KEVIN KRATZKE (Buddy Holly, Night the Music Died), JEN PERCIVAL (Ethel Waters, Big River), CHRIS TRIMBOLI (Richie Valens – Night the Music Died)

Judy Norton serves as an Artistic Advisor and frequent director for Texas Family Musicals. Past productions have included: Hello Dolly, Annie Get Your Gun, Sunshine Boys, and Swinging With the Stars. This season Judy will be directing productions of A Chorus Line and Rocky Mountain High – a tribute to John Denver.

The musical preview tickets are free and guests of all ages are welcome.

Poker Girls at Hollyweb Festival

Poker Girls Web Series from Skyelove Pictures has been chosen for screening at the Hollyweb Web Series Festival 2012. Season Two premiere with guest star JUDY NORTON will be featured during the March 30th screenings. Creator/Producer Jewelle Colwell will be flying in from Calgary to attend the festival and awards ceremony.

Judges include independent producer Scott Rosenfelt (Home Alone, Mystic Pizza), screenwriter Stephen Mazur (Liar, Liar, Heartbreakers), producer Brad Wyman (Monster, Normal Adolescent Behavior) and short film maker Javier Prato (Jesus Will Survive).

Last Chance Ranch in pre-production

LAST CHANCE RANCH – the original feature film written by JUDY NORTON is in pre-production. A Southern drama from Executive Producer Jeffery Patterson is scheduled to begin filming this spring.

LAST CHANCE RANCH is a multi-generational southern drama about the wounds we carry, and those we leave behind. When legendary music producer “JT Grayson” passes away, he leaves the “Last Chance Ranch” to his estranged daughter, “Samantha ‘Sam’ Colter”, a strong-willed single mother. The ranch acts as a juvenile program for troubled young boys, but “Sam”, already overwhelmed by raising her rebellious teenage daughter, “Ashton Colter”, puts the ranch up for sale. When “Sam” reunites with her ex-husband, country star “Casey Colter”, at her father’s wake, she’s forced to confront the demons of her past, and choose between the life she’s built, and the life she ran away from.

WHAT: With all the bad news of education budget cuts here is a non-profit doing something about it. But with no government help they need support from the community!

A group of International and Broadway musical performers have come together to share their talents, in order to raise money for music education in public schools with an entertainment filled gala.

The M.U.S.I.C. Foundation (Music Unlocks Success In Children) is a non-profit organization partnering with public elementary schools in the LA area to provide students with the opportunity to advance academically through the study of music. Despite the research that students who study music achieve higher academically, funding for music education has been cut, and often in schools with a student population that cannot afford any kind of private music instruction. Those are the schools they work with. This program meets the needs of the children of this community, giving them weekly music instruction, integrated with their core curriculum, to enable them to achieve their academic potential.

Judy will be joining many of her fellow Walton cast mates for a special 40 anniversary screening of THE HOMECOMING. This Christmas classic served as the pilot for THE WALTONS which went on to a 9 year run and garnered numerous Emmy, Golden Globe and People’s Choice awards. Cast members currently schedule to attend include Richard Thomas, Judy Norton, Jon Walmsley, Mary McDonough, Eric Scott, David Harper, Kami Cotler and special guest Michael Learned. Judy Norton will direct two Musicals

Judy has been brought on board to direct productions of ANNIE GET YOUR GUN and HELLO DOLLY for Texas Family Musicals. Two classic musicals that Judy has starred in, this marks the first time she will be at the helm. The shows will play at the Granbury Opera House and the MCL Grand Theatre in Lewisville. When asked about the shows Judy commented; ”These are two shows that I have loved being a part of as a perfomer, so I am very excited about the opportunity to work on them from the other side of the footlights. Both contain fabulous, classic songs, wonderful characters, and witty dialogue. Hello Dolly contains some very challenging choreography and will really test the skills of our dancers. Judy returns in “Hello Dolly”

This summer, Judy will once again star as matchmaker Dolly Levi in the classic musical hit ”Hello Dolly”. This will mark the third outing for Judy in this iconic role. Judy will be directing the show for its run at the Granbury Opera House and will then step into the role of Dolly for its run at the MCL Grand Theatre in Lewisville.

One of Judy’s favorite shows, she is looking forward to reprising the role. Previously she has performed the role with Galveston Island Musicals, and Texas Family Musicals.
